Numbering changes to Heading style (XP)

I tried to search for this but couldn't find another thread.

I have a list which I want simply numbered. When I click on the 'Numbering' tool my list, using the normal style, suddenly has the Heading 1 style applied to it.
I have turned off 'Built in Heading styles' from the Autocorrect -> Autoformat as you type' dialog, along with all the 'Apply' options in the 'Autoformat' tab of that dialog but nothing works.

Any solutions? Thanks for your help.

    Hi Ted:
Right click in your list, select Bullets & Numbering... A list template will be selected on the numbering tab. Click Reset & see if that helps.
    Cheers,

'Fraid not, Phil - thanks for your reply though.
It's weird - just whacks Heading 1 style to my numbered list - sheesh!
    Any other options anyone?

You might try resetting all the list numbering templates. And also make sure that Tools/Templates & add-ins/Automatically update document styles is UNchecked. You might also try the initial steps listed in <post#=197827>post 197827</post#>. If those don't work, you might want to attach a copy to your post, after removing any sensitive data.
