Lex Icon

I have noticed lately that my desktop icon for the Lounge will change from the generic icon I had selected to a Lex Lizard Icon. This seems to occur without any action my part, will stay for an undetermined amount of time and then revert back to the original icon.

Any idea why this happens?
It is no big deal of course, simply a curiousity to me.

Today it is called golf!

The Lounge, like many other sites, has a favicon. This is stored in your Temporary Internet Files folder by default, and it may be flushed when you clear this folder, or when it becomes too full. If you'd like to keep Lex, copy the icon to another folder, right-click your shortcut to the Lounge, select Properties from the popup menu, then click Change Icon and browse to the location of the copied icon.

OK thanks Hans.

I do clear out my TIFs often but haven't noticed the clearing following the change of icons. Or visa versa.

The behavior of favicons in the TIF is somewhat unpredicable. Sometimes they persist for months, then suddenly they vanish every other session or so. Once you copy a favicon out of the TIF, it will stay put.

Re: Lex Icon

Hi Joe,
I already have AM Deadlink installed. It's great for removing dead favorites shortcuts.
The only trouble I have with it, is when I do a scan, it runs all through my favorites list and when it gets to the LAST one it slows and halts for a fairly long time ( so it seems ) and then finishes.

I contacted the author about this and he was at a loss to explain why. So I suffer with the slowdown. Beyond that it is worthwhile to run occasionally.

Bob,

It can also download and save Favicons if you let it.
