Upgrading... (XP Home/SP2)
We have just purchased original versions of Win XP Home for four computers which need them. These are SP2, but do not (I assume) include all of the updates since that release. Two questions before we start to install:
1. Is it possible to merge the subsequent updates into a new CD to avoid having to update each computer one-by-one?
2. If this is not feasible, is it necessary to reboot between each update installation (for those that require rebooting), or can one wait until all of the upgrades have been installed, then reboot? Is there a risk with this?

Re: Upgrading... (XP Home/SP2)
1.) Check out Neowin.net -> AutoPatcher XP September 2005. This is not a Microsoft product nor is it endorsed by Microsoft. It is maintained by an enthusiast and it should get most of the hotifixes you need after SP-2. You should still use Windows Update after this to see what else you may need. Be sure to back up your system before using this.
2.) If you choose to not use AutoPatcher you should re-boot when requested. There is a big risk of getting various components out of synch. Often you will not be allowed to apply another patch if a re-boot is pending from a prior patch.
