    Formula assistance please (Windows XP)

    I would like a column to identify whether a shipment is International or Domestic, it will do this by identifying whether the number is between a certain range, I am afraid that it is above my knowledge so if I can try to show you what I would like to achieve

    =IF(B6>78454000<78457720,"International",IF(B6>784 57720,"Domestic",""))

    Can somebody point me in the proper direction please

    Cheers

    Danny

    Try this:
    <code>
    =IF(B6>78457720,"Domestic",IF(B6>78454000,"Interna tional",""))
    </code>
    First test if B6 is larger than 78457720. If so, the shipment is domestic., and if not, test if B6 is larger than 78454000 (i.e. it is between 78454000 and78457720). If so, it is international, otherwise return a blank.

    Thanks Hans

    Can you use ELSE statements in a formula as I have just been told that some numbers may be less than 78457720 could I kind of say in a formula that if a number is between 78454000 and 78457720 it will be an International but any other number less than or greater than these will be Domestic

    Thanks

    Hi Steve

    I have copied what you suggest but no matter what the number is it returns the same value of International, I have stripped down an example so that you can see for yourself and perhaps suggest where I have gone wrong.

    Thanks

    Change OR to AND in Steve's formula.

    OOPS, that is what I get for typing and not testing. Or perhaps for posting without "thinking enough"...

    Thanks,
    Steve

    <P ID="edit" class=small>(Edited by sdckapr on 22-Sep-05 10:15. Corrected "logic error". Thanks to Hans for catching it.)</P>Try
    <pre>=IF(<font color=red>AND</font color=red>(B6>=78454000, B6<78457720),"International","Domestic")</pre>
