    Outlook appointments (2003 SP1)

eBay has a feature that creates an appointment in Outlook automatically for the end of an auction when you click on a link on the auction item page.
    It doesn't work for me.
eBay states "if your browser and Outlook allows it, this feature will work". ebay advised popups must be allowed for their site. I did this. They advised checking Outlook help.

My question is what settings in IE or Outlook must be set to allow this function?

We had a similar thread once... where the problem fixed itself... check out Can't use eBay 'Add to Calendar' feature (OL 2000 SP-3) over on the Internet Explorer board.

I read through that thread. tried the sample links, they worked. Still can't get ebay to work. The only thing common with rlweiner is we both have the Google toolbar. I had both Google and IE popup blocker on. Both were set to accept popups from eBay.com.
I turned Google off. Turned IE popup blocker off. Tried each one alone also with both off. Still won't work.
I found your test files in my temp dir. A search found no other .vcs files.

Here are a few more domains that you might need to allow in some manner:
<UL><LI>pages.ebay.com - domain the window opens from (pop-up list)

    <LI>cgi.ebay.com - possible intermediate page (pop-up list)

<LI>include.ebaystatic.com - domain that various javascript files load from

    <LI>pics.ebaystatic.com - source for certain GIFs in the pop-up window[/list]Hopefully that covers it. <img src=/S/crossfingers.gif border=0 alt=crossfingers width=17 height=16>

I added the domains you noted. No change.

When I click the add appointment link on the item page, I get a small popup window with a "click here to add appointment" button. When I click it, the popup window goes away and nothing else happens.

I recently encountered a similar problem with a Microsoft Events site. I wonder whether there has been a security change in Outlook? I saved the item to the desktop and tried to open it from there, and the format was invalid. Maybe that's not the same problem after all. Sorry, no other ideas.

    >>I wonder whether there has been a security change in Outlook?<<
This gets us back to my original question...What settings in IE or Outlook must be set to allow this function?
There must be a security setting that is blocking this action. I just don't know where and what to set.
