cut sting at , (excel 2000)

    Hi,

I have a question, how does one take a contents in a cell and change whats written in it. I have pasted in some information to a set of cells.
for example cell A1 has the name Bob, 345 instead of having this I want to format it so Bob is in A1 and 354 in A2, so cutting the string of text at the ","

    thanks

Make sure B1 is empty and then do the following:

1- Select cell A1. Then select "Text to columns..." from the Data menu.

2- In the first dialog box, make sure that "Delimited" is selected (has a dot next to it). Click on the Next button.

3- In the next dialog box, put a check mark next to Comma. Click on the Finished button.

You should now have what you asked for.

How does that give you "Bob" in A1 like you asked in your original question?
