    Error winctrl64.exe (XP)

    I keep getting this apop-up every 10 or so minutes. Any idea whats going on? I ran virus scan but no luck. thanks

    This is a trojan, per this site. They give instructions for removing it & editing the registry. You should also run a spyware check. In general, see <post#=296439>post 296439</post#> & <post#=385669>post 385669</post#>.

    thanks, after running the virus scan again it identified the trojan and my unit is better now. I still have a problem with popcorn72.exe which I can't delete, and the instructions the web site gave for backing up and editing the registry didn't match what I saw when I pulled up the regedit as instructed....thanks for your help, we'll strive forward.

    Look at several links from "popcorn72.exe" - Google Search. Also, download Sysinternals Freeware - Autoruns for a complete picture of what is starting when your system is booted.
