    media disconnected

I trying to set up my laptop to my Belkin F5D7632-4 router using 128 bit WEP. This secure wireless network shows ok on my laptop.
However the network has a yellow triangle "limited or no connectivity. The router has not assigned a network address.
When I run IPconfig I get Ethernet adaptor Wireless net work Connection:
    Media states "media disconnected"
Yet the signal strength is excellent

    What operating system?
Have you configured both router and laptop for DHCP?

Try selecting "Obtain an IP address automatically" in your TCP/IP setup.

Some further info here at about.com.

    Re: media disconnected

I did try this to no avail...if I disable security and run as a open network all is well.
I only have a problem with WEP enabled.
I did try putting a IP address 198.168.2.3 this did not work ether

    Re: media disconnected

I think you need to set the router up with a static IP address, then set this as the address for your default gateway in the laptop's TCP/IP config.

See if this page at Belkin gives more details on setting up the connection.

What do you have a 'connection' to, then?
