Table Styles (WordXP)

I would like to format a table as follows:

Left Column - Cells are bottom aligned
Right Colum - Cells are top aligned

To do this with Table Styles, do I need to create 2 different table styles and apply them to each column?
OR, is it possible to create a single table style for both the columns?

Hi Andrew:
You know, I tried this with Word 2003 & can't modify a table style to align the cells differently in the first & last column. It seems to apply the last alignment that I pick to all cells.

I just created a table style to align 3 columns differently, but it doesn't seem to work.

(Edited by Andrew Lockton on 27-Sep-05 18:58. It looks like this information is incorrect as the dialog does not actually implement what it indicates it does - ignore it completely.)
It can be done with a single Table Style (which is just as well because I would be surprised if you could apply two different table styles to one table).

When defining your table style in the Modify Style dialog, firstly select 'Left Column' in the Apply formatting to dropdown and then use the 'Cell Align' button to define the alignment you want for the left column. Then change to 'Right Column' and do the same again.

You are right - the dialog appears to give you this ability but in fact doesn't. I had a look at what properties are available in the Styles.Table.Condition object and Vertical Alignment is not one of them.

Perhaps you could run a macro to do the task instead (after applying the table style perhaps). eg
Selection.Tables(1).Columns(1).Cells.VerticalAlign ment = wdAlignVerticalTop
Selection.Tables(1).Columns(3).Cells.VerticalAlign ment = wdAlignVerticalBottom

Hi Andrew:
Can you tell me where can I find the conditions for the table styles. i.e. how to I get to the table styles object?
Thanks,

Type Condition in the Visual Basic Editor and press F1. You'll want the Word topic. Read the help info, then click the ConditionalStyle link.

Thanks, Hans. That eventually led me to the attachment shown, but I don't see a listing for all types of properties.

For some reason, I was expecting various options that you see in the Table Properties... box. But I guess that's the whole point...that those aren't part of the Table Styles.
Thanks again,
