    If statment that displays Text from cell ref (Excel)

    Hello,
    Does any one know if its is possible to input text in a conditional if statement by just refering to the cell?

    =IF(AND(C30="General",E30=A),TEXT(C9,0),"")
    this is what I thought might work, but no cigar.

    I basically have a table with a few scenerios

    below this table I have a menu of two drop down boxes.
    If certain conditions are pick in the these menu boxs allowing
    excel to decide where to look to fill in the table below the menus

    I have attach an example,

    I am just trying to fill in the table below based on conditions

    I might be wrong, but shouln't the letter A be inside inverted commas and the TEXT function might be redundant ie.,

    =IF(AND(C30="General",E30="A"),C9,"")

    If I understand:

    In B34:
    =IF(AND($E$30="B",ROW()-ROW($B$34)=3),"",INDEX($C$9:$C$25,MATCH($C$30,$A$9 :$A$25,0)+MATCH($E$30,OFFSET($A$9,MATCH($C$30,$A$9 :$A$25,0)-1,1,8,1),0)-1+ROW()-ROW($B$34),1))

    In E34:
    =IF(AND($E$30="B",ROW()-ROW($B$34)=3),"",INDEX($H$9:$J$25,MATCH($C$30,$A$9 :$A$25,0)+MATCH($E$30,OFFSET($A$9,MATCH($C$30,$A$9 :$A$25,0)-1,1,8,1),0)-1+ROW()-ROW($B$34),COLUMN()-COLUMN($E$33)+1))

    Copy E34 to F34:G34

    Copy B34:G34

    to B35:G37

    Now when you change the items in C30 and E30, you will lookup from the table.

    Steve
