    Problem with password memory

Hi: I am having a problem with getting Outlook Express to remember the password for logging on to my ISP. I have used Tools > Accounts > Properties > Servers and checked "Remember Password." However, when I try to log on to my ISP the password field is blank and the "remember password" is grayed out. Any ideas?

I am using Outlook Express in Officd XP under Win 98SE.

it may be a corrupt password file. rename your *.pwd file.

MaryJ: Thanks a lot for the suggestion. I did a search of my C drive for *.pwd but didn't come up with any hits. Where are such files stored?

    Re: Problem with password memory

The "*.pwd " files are used for 'Windows log in' only. The remember password is stored in the registry and is encoded. This is to prevent decoding and / or moving to another machine.

Are you on a company machine? If so they may have this turned off. Most company do NOT want you to have the machine to remember the passwords. This function, defeats the purpose of having passworded accounts.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

I think you should search for *.pwl and delete that file.
