    Windows Update (Office XP)

    Hello everyone:

Yesterday, I updated the Windows update, and I realised that when I clicked the start, saw two icons for the update site.

Where can I go and delete the previous files, better yet where would they be located?

    Thanks

    Hi Dillon66,
If you mean that you updated Windows Update to Microsoft Update, and now you're seeing icons on the Start Menu for both of them, it's safe to just right-click and delete the one for Windows Update.

    Hello Liberty:

Thank you for your reply, I am a bit of a neat freak. Do I have to go into windows and look for any other files.

Re: Clean up Start Menu (Office XP)

Windows update often puts icons on the start menu, the desktop, & the Quick Launch folder. You can delete any duplicates (or any icon whatsoever, as they are shortcuts only). If you really are a neat freak, right click the start menu, choose Explore. Then rearrange your shortcuts into logical groups, keeping the most frequently used on the top part of the menu, & the rest in appropriately named folders. I actually use shortcut keys for my most frequently used, then the quick launch bar, then the top of the start menu, & everything else in a hierarchy of subfolders folders. Oh yes, I have a couple of shortcuts right in the windows folder, so that I can go to start/Run & type in an abbreviation & press <enter> to start it. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
