    opening Excel spreadsheet (Excel 2003)

When i try to open spreadsheets in a folder, they open in wordpad. I have to right-click and open with Excel. If I left-click on the Excel icon or file, the file opens in wordpad. I may have changed settings to wordpad when I tried to open a file in the folder that didn't have an xls extension, so i tried to open the file in wordpad--now all the Excel spreadsheets open in wordpad. how can i get the files to open as Excel spreadsheets when i left-click on them?

Re: opening Excel spreadsheet (Excel 2003)

In Explorer, find an Excel file with a .xls extension. Right click on the file and then click on "Open with". In the "Open with" dialog box, find "Microsoft Excel" in the list of programs and select it. In the bottom of the dialog box, put a check mark next to "Always use this program to open these file". Click on the OK button. This should fix the problem.
