Prevent saving of exe files to local hard drive (XP Pro, SP-2)

    Hi,
I would like to be able to stop users from saving .exe files to their local hard drive with a view to ensuring software licence compliance.
Is there a Group Policy that would allow me to do that?
    Is ther another way?
    Thanks

They can also copy from USB, CD, detach from emails.
Any reigstry entries that would disallow saving of .exe file to local hard drive.

Then your users will also be able to rename .exe files to .doc, .zip, .txt etc before saving them locally. They then rename the extensions back to .exe before running them.

I think you need to look at limiting the installing of software, or introduce capital punishment into their contracts.

See Using Software Restriction Policies to Protect Against Unauthorized Software.
