Conditional Format- Formula is?? (Excel 2002 sp2)

I have a worksheet with date in B3 (formatted as mm-dd-yyyy)
    and some text in E3

I want to use conditional formatting from E3 based on:
if the day of week is Friday (based on E3) then make text in E3 font color RED

I have tried many times - but must be missing something...

Even tried using in C4 =IF(TEXT(B3,"dddd")="Friday","Friday","") and then from E3 conditional format
    formula is ="C4=Friday" and ="$C4="Friday" .....
but E3 never formats as Red!!

Please help before I pull my hair out!
    Thanks,
    Phyl

    Select E3.
    Select Format | Conditional Formatting...
    Select Formula Is
    Enter the following formula:

    =WEEKDAY($B3)=6

    Click Format...
Set the font color to red.
    Click OK (twice).

    Thanks Hans,
I tried that and it still does not work on E3??
The date in B3 is 10-07-2005. The text in E3 is "Saturday Test".
I finally decided to try same format on another cell with text and it worked there??
What can be the problem with E3 ?

    Grrrrrrrr

    Hans,
I finally deleted the test in E3 and then reentered it. NOW it works?
I have no idea why I had to do that...
    Thanks for your good help!
