    .tif file to Word .doc

    Word 2000
Is there a way to save a .tif file as a Word .doc so it is editable in Word? I have some faxes that have been saved as .tif files and would like to save them and edit them in Word. Thanks

A tiff is a bitmap format so you will need to convert the image into text by using OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software. You probably got some cheap version with your scanner or fax software so have a look there first. Failing that look for OmniPage Lite (or Pro if you have the bucks) to find out what to do.

Another good OCR package is TextBridge.

TextBridge has just been replaced with OmniPage version 11(?). I just received a mailing and upgrade offer. The makers of TextBridge bought the makers of OmniPage and combined the best of the two.
