The answer to the second question is the same as the answer to the first question

Power Cut

(Edited by Jezza on 11-Oct-05 14:13. Edited in bold as question was the same!!!!!)
I woke up this and noticed my digital alarm clock was blinking. The clocked showed 5.00am. "Darn, there must have been a power cut last night, I wonder when it went off?" I said

Now I know that when my alarm clock is unplugged it resets to 12:00 and I noticed my wristwatch showed 8.30am(Correct time). Mrs Jezza shouted up the stairs "Jezza, get up the kitchen wall clock tells me it is 6.00am!"

So my question is, how long was the power supply off and when did it go off?

Re: Power Cut

On the basis your digital alarm clock sets itself to 12:00 midnight on power-up, the evidence is that it has been running for 5 hours since the last power cut.
The kitchen clock, at a guess, is mains driven, and is 2.5 hours slow.
Hence, if there was a single power cut, I would guess the power went off at 1:00am for 2.5 hours.
Which I think is what your question is!

Re: Power Cut

That will do, you can have [a broken garden gnome]

Assume the digital clock resets itself, but the conventional clock in the kitchen does not.
Find the number of hours the clock has been running:
5 hours
Find the time the clock stops running:
(6:00 am)

Re: Power Cut

Thank you, but I'm afraid I don't have a broken garden to put it in.

Typical. Everyone else gets chocolate this and chocolate that and I get nothing more than a small pile of second hand rubble. [/grumble]

Would you have liked to get a LARGE pile of second-hand rubble then?

You don't really expect us to believe the "clumsy me" excuse any more, do you?

Re: Power Cut

This hatred Jezza shows for gnomes has got me wondering.
Have you noticed how small *he* is? I'm beginning to wonder if Jezza bear is not in fact a member of some sub-species, started off by some long forgotten tryst between a gnome and a discarded teddy. I mean, has anyone actually seen him do anything other than stand there like a garden ornament?

Of course, I might be persuaded NOT to go to the papers with this story if some *unbroken* chocolate found its way in my direction...

You probably don't realize that your gnomic gneurosis could be the squandering of a small fortune, as the Gnome war hots up.
