copy attachment between messages (2002)

I created an excel file for a colleague and used 'send to an email recipient as attachment'. Having written the email, I found I really wanted to reply to his email and send the attachment. Can I copy or move the attached workbook from one email message to another? I tried drag'n'drop and copy / paste to no avail. Thanks.

I think it needs to have been sent first.
Send a copy to yourself, then drag it from the 'sent' copy to your reply.

Try dragging the attachment from the e-mail to a folder in Windows Explorer, then drag the file from Windows Explorer to the reply.

Thanks Lief, the message does seem to need to have been sent. Even saving as a draft is not enough.
Hans, your idea works if the message was sent - then you can drag it around freely. Until then most things dont work, I could only open or save the file.

Interesting discussion, I have been able to copy attachments from unsent unsaved messages by right clicking on the attachment and selecting Copy. I do it a couple of time a week. See if right-click | Copy works for you.

Hmmm - right-click, Copy then Paste does work!.

Typically I find that (for example) if I have an Excel file open, and go

File > Send To... > Mail Recipient as Attachment

I need to save and close the newly created email before I can access the main outlook window, or any other email. Having done that, I can then open up the unsent mail and any other email to reply to and copy and paste.

A bit of testing later....
What I am now finding is that I can open an Excel spreadsheet, go

File > Send To... > Mail Recipient as Attachment

Save, close, re-open - and dragging to a reply works!

I can now even create the email with an attachment,
Right-click the attachment, Copy.
Close the email, say 'yes' I want to keep the data in the clipboard, open up an email in my Inbox, click Reply, then paste it in!

Something is playing games with me! This wasn't happening yesterday!

Yeah, we hacked your computer and replaced Microsoft's OLE and Clipboard engines with improved third party ones!
