Outlook 2003 pst file size (Outlook 2003 SP1)

What would influence the Maximum File size of a newly created PST file using Outlook 2003?
I have older PST files using the old format, and created a new PST file using the newer format. I started populating the new PST file and it maxed out at only 361MB!!
The older PST files handled up to 1.7GB. What would be the limiting factors that do not let me populate the newer PST file with more than 361MB?

What was the warning you got, Alex? 2003 UNICODE file sizes can be quite large - see the defaults in <!mskb=832925>Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 832925<!/mskb>, ANSI file sizes are still limited to 2GB. Perhaps you should check the Registry settings mentioned in the KB.

    the error reads:
Can't move items. The file H:OutlookTEST2005.PST has reached its maximum size. To reduce the amount of data in this file, select some items that you no longer need, then permanently (shift+del) delete them.
The physical size of the file is only 361MB.
I'd already checked the registry: (per Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 832925)

    In HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftOffice11 .0OutlookPST

    MaxLargeFileSize REG_DWORD 0x00005000 0x00005000 20,480 (20 GB)
    WarnLargeFileSize REG_DWORD 0x00005000 0x00004C00 19,456 (19 GB)

<img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20> Beats me. Did you put all the messages in one Folder? There may be Folder size limits.

Are you on a server? Perhaps the file size limitations have been set by your admin

    Alex

Just a thought. It appears you are mapped to an H: drive, has there been a maximum folder size been created for folders of this type on your file/email server. We have shared folders that are limited in size to stop users putting unnecessary files in them. This may be Outlook interpreting the folder limitation as its problem.
