    Filter by Form:

    Access 97 SR2/SQL Server 7.0, WinNT.
Does the Filter by Form event trigger a Save? I have a situation in which a user should be able to do searches, however they do not have write privileges to a table. When they go into a Filter by Form it hoses on an ODBC Call Failure, however as DBO I can filter all day long.

I don't know why a save should be triggered, but who knows

Have they got select access in SQL Server to the table?

You could try creating a View for the required data on SQL Server and give them select access of the view to filter on. Or better still run this query as a stored Procedure as then the processing will be on the server side so the sort will be quicker.

Yes, it does, whether you want it to or not! If you'll look at the 'Filter' and 'Order By' Properties, you'll see they contain the same values you used the PREVIOUS time the Filter By Form was activated. As far as I'm concerned, it's one of the most irritating "features" Microsoft designed into Access!
