emails in inbox automatically deleted (Outlook XP)

I have set up a new user on a computer with Outlook for her email. When she receives an email in her inbox, she opens it and reads it. When she closes it, it disappears from the inbox. We are unable to find it in the deleted files or any other place in Outlook. Could it be a setting somewhere in Outlook that I need to change..I can't find anthing to correct the problem as I surf throught the settings through the options Outlook gives you to choose from. thanks, John
