    Largest number (Excel 2002)

Just curious! What is the largest number that Excel can calculate in scientific notation. It would appear that it cancalculate 2^1023, but not 2^1024. Is there a limit that I have reached.

Type specifications in the online help to get this kind of information. It can also be found at Microsoft Office Assistance: Excel specifications and limits:

Largest number allowed to be typed into a cell: 9.99999999999999E+307
    Largest allowed positive number 1.79769313486231E+308
