ADD-IN Name Does NOT Appear In Tool Bar... (xp - office 2003)

    hi all...

here is a rather strange issue:

i sent an add-in to my friend who is able to load it into excel via tools - add ins and it is registered in the add-in menu....

but...it does not appear in the tool bar...

he can locate it in the vba-environment as well....

    any ideas, please?!

    thank you very much...

    best,
    wolfgang

Re: ADD-IN Name Does NOT Appear In Tool Bar... (xp - office 2003)

    Hi Wolfgang,
Just to clarify! Should the add-in add a button to the toolbar? Is that why you say: >>> but...it does not appear in the tool bar...

If this is the case, does the add-in you sent to your friend work properly on your PC?
    Regards,
    Rudi

    hi rudi...

thank you very much for your fast answer...

the add-in needs to be activated like any other addins as well via tools - add-ins...

she is able to do all that, the addin will be shown and if she clicks alt-f11, it is there also...

all neccessary libriaries are being referenced too...

i have given this addin away to some other people as well without any problems...

in fact we were still trying to get it to work on her machine.......no such luck...

    beats me...

    best,
    wolfgang

Did you create the add-in yourself? Jan Karel Pieterse's series of articles Create Addins contains very useful information about the use of toolbars/menus in add-ins.

yes hans, i did create it with the help of an expert excel-programmer and it runs on all machines...but her's...

as i already mentioned, it even runs on ancient win-98 and excel-97 and now on xp-professional and office-2003...

maybe she should get herself a new machine?!

If you don't come right with the advise that Hans posted about Jan Karels web pages...you could attempt to attach the add-in to the thread to have some experts debug and advise on the code! Assuming that it is not confidential of course!~

Have you checked Tools | Macro | Security on her system? If the macro security level is set to High and if "Trust all installed add-ins and templates" (in the Trusted Sources tab) is off, the initialization code of the add-in wouldn't run.
