    hyperlink (PowerPoint 2000)

Operating PP2000 on an XP machine. Inserting a hyperlink (url) into a presentation, however when running the slide show, clicking on the link takes you into a notepad window with all of the code of the site displayed. Can't seem to get it to link and display the actual site. Any suggestions.

    A newbie to powerpoint.

    Thanks

Do hyperlinks in other applications (Word, Excel) worl correctly, or do they also open the HTML source?

hadn't checked that, but after your post did. It would appear that all hyperlinks are oppening the HTML source. Could it be an association problem? As usual, probably in way over my head.

    Thanks for the quick repsonse.

Select Tools | Folder Options in Windows Explorer.
    Activate the File Types tab.
    Select URL
    Click Advanced...
    Select Open, then click Edit.
    The action should be

    rundll32.exe shdocvw.dll,OpenURL %l

Thanks again. Checked that out, but that is exactly the way it is set up. Anyother suggestions, other than blowing up this computer........ sigh
