It will do no harm in rerunning it. That is the only way I know of.

With Windows Update, it is possible to deselect individual Updates and then choose the "Do not remind me" option. Such Updates are then put on a "back burner" and you can "re-activate" them at a later date. I'm not clear whether this option works with Office Update, but you might like to try it. HTH

    Dave,

Thanks but I still wonder why one site says I'm OK and the other doesn't recognize SP2 is installed.

    unkamumka,

Thanks that worked but it is still confusing why it happened now after almost a month from when I originally installed SP2.

I had the same problem and checking through the MS newsgroups quite a few others are reporting this. So far I have not found any response from Microsoft as to why this happened.

    Tony,

Thanks. I was wondering, do you suppose there is a way to register Office 2003 using something like the "/Regserver" switch? Maybe one would have to register all the Office programs one at a time.

Remember that the Office package includes many products and several associated programs, i.e., FrontPage, Visio and etc. Each of these may need the SP to be updated

    Dave,

Thanks but I don't think I have any of those other programs installed. If they needed updated wouldn't SP2 have done that if I had had the programs installed?

Not for some of the Office applications. One Note, Visio, and Project and posiibly others have individual releases of SP2.

Re: Windows Update Site (Office 2003 SP2)

    Joe,

Thanks. I do believe that the SP2 update the Windows Update site wanted me to do again was the same one that I have already installed because it was the same 90 something meg download. Same as when I did it before.

I don't find One Note, Viso, or Project installed on my machine but after I checking and I do have Infopath and Publisher installed. When I check them for updates it took me to the Office Update site and, as before, it said I do not need any updates. In addition to the 2 mentioned above I also have Excel, Word, Power Point, Access, and Outlook installed. That, I believe, is a complete list of the Office 2003 programs I have installed on my machine.

I guess it is, as I believe it was Tony who said, a problem that MS hasn't yet addressed.

    Thanks again.

I am having the same problem, and have the same Office 2003 applications installed. However, mine is on an XPSP2 machine, not on W2000.

Microsoft have looked into the problem and it has been fixed. It was something to do with the update being incorrectly marked as expired.

    Tony,

Thanks, I'll go and uncheck that ignored update if it is still there and see what happens.
