    Alcohol vs. Virtual

Anyone using Alcohol 120% or Virtual CD and would care to offer opinions on either or both? I am using the cd-virtualization features to convert CDs to images stored on the network.

I am currently testing virtualCD, which works well. Maybe the interface is a bit "busy" for a user who just wants to start one program. I haven't looked at Alcohol 120% yet. I will tomorrow.

Anyone have a favorite of these two?

I have been a happy user of Virtual CD since version (long ago).

On the one occassion when I had a problem with the product the level of technical support was superb. They asked me to send them a complete Virtual CD that was giving me problems and sent a patched image 3 days later!

Although I am not currently using Alcohol 120%, I have used it in the recent past, and really liked it. It's well worth a try. Someday, when I have extra cash ...

    Thanks guys,

I think I am going to go with VirtualCD, since it has more corporate/network ready features that I think I might want to use later. And, this would mean that I get to finish the project today . <img src=/S/clapping.gif border=0 alt=clapping width=19 height=23>

I'm not even a big gamer, but I definetely want one of these for home.

    Re: Alcohol vs. Virtual

I use the version with 5 network licenses at home, and store all my virtual CDs on a big drive on my server, this allows all the PCs in the house to mount the CDs. I also keep a second copy of this disk on another drive, because I would hate to have to rebuild it if the drive failed.

Stuart, out of curiousity how big is the drive? and how many CDs have you stored on it? That could prove to be very useful & convenient!

    Re: Alcohol vs. Virtual

Drive size varies. At the moment I have a 60GByte partition containing 70 virtual CDs as well as an Office 2003 Professional Kit (Plus Visio and Project 2003 kits and all the available service packs for Office 2003). I have about 10GB free space on the drive, so won't need to expand it for a while yet.

I have just realised that quite a few of these 70 virtual CDs are in fact virtual DVDs (things like Encarta)
