    ISBN database (2002)

I'm interested in creating a cataloguing database based on ISBN numbers. I attempted to store the numbers with Decimal format, but receive errors when I try to use the Lookup Wizard from a table of Authors. Can Decimal not be used with this wizard? Or can I get round this by creating a combo-box on a form?

If anyone know about ISBNs, etc., do books only have one Category and Sub-Category? Andy.

ISBN "numbers" are in fact text. The last character is a checksum that can be 0 - 9 or X. So you must use a text field to store ISBN numbers. See the thread starting at <post#=459,140>post 459,140</post: > for related information.

BTW, Decimal is not a native Access data type, it is available for compatibility with other systems. You should avoid using Decimal in Access if possible.
