    Hyperlinks (Excel 2002)

In Excel I <Insert/Hyperlink> or Ctrl+K, navigate to a particular Word file and then have the link, which will later open that Word file when the link is clicked.

A colleague attempts to do the same, however when he clicks the link Word opens and then he is asked to navigate to a file even though the link is to a specific Word file.

Is this difference in the way Excel works because of different Excel versions or is it a feature of greater “security” applied to the second machine which is running XP Pro with SP2, whilst the first is on XP Home with only SP1.

Would welcome suggestions as to what is happening here.

    Regards

    Tony

It shouldn't matter whether the operating system is Windows XP Home or Pro, and whether it is SP-1 or SP-2.
Do hyperlinks to a Word document from another application work correctly on your colleague's machine?
Do hyperlink to other types of files from Excel work correctly on your colleagues's machine?

    Re: Hyperlinks (Excel 2002)

Is it the same file or a copy?
Are the hyperlinks created "relative" or "absolute"?

If relative and different files stored in different locations, the paths are not the same...

    Thanks for your suggestions.
Further investigation fingered Web Sweeper as the possible culprit.
