Recurrence task not available any more? (2003)

The button to make a task recurrent is not turn on any more. I mean the button is in the tool bar but not available. That is, I can't make a task recurrent any more. I say any more because it was working fine a few weeks ago.
Any idea to fix this issue?

I assume you have double clicked the task to edit it?
Right-click the toolbar and select Customize...
Activate the Commands tab in the Customize dialog.
Select Actions in the list of Categories.
Select Recurrence in the list of Commands and drag it to the toolbar.
Close the Customize dialog.
