    Custom Format ? (Excel 2002)

    Hi

If I use this format for 2 hours 45 minutes entered 2.45 It gives me 2Hours.45 Mins

But if I enter 2.30 for 2 hours 30 minutes it gives me 2 hours.3 Mins

    Custom Format
    ##"Hours".##"Mins"

    Any Ideas please

    Many Thanks

    Braddy

To me that would be rather misleading. I would read 2Hours.45Mins as two hours and 45 hundreths of a minute which would be two hours and 27 seconds.

    Hi Legare

I hear what you say but at first glance it just looks normal to me,

I'm curious to know how you would present it.

    Thanks

Re: Custom Format ? (Excel 2002)

    I would use:
2 hours 30 minutes (no decimal)

or even 2.5 hours or even 2:30

[I hope you don't use the numbers in calculations. the value of 2.3 can not be converted in a straight-forward manner into 2 hr 30 min, since 2.3 = 2 hrs 18 mins).

Re: Custom Format ? (Excel 2002)

I would enter it as 2:45 so that it was stored as a real Excel time value, then I would use the custom format: [h]" Hours and "mm" Minutes"

    Hi Steve

No I don't use this for calculation, I just used the format for appearance.

    Many Thanks

    Hi

That works for me, as I said to Steve it's mainly for appearance and not for calculation.

    Thanks
