    Access XP

    Version 2000

Does anyone know of any overriding reasons (or good ones) of upgrading from Access 2000 to XP?

(eg. from Access 97 -> 2000, ADO support)

Hi Andy, you might want to take a look at this thread. There's a link to a pretty good article discussing Access and XP.

I'd say the most exciting thing I saw (I haven't upgraded yet, 'cause I'm saving my pennies for MSDN Universal <img src=/S/crazy.gif border=0 alt=crazy width=15 height=15>) is the ability to export forms and reports to XML/XSL pages. WOW!! That would completely eliminate the need for report viewers, etc. All the recipient would need is a browser that supports XML. Oh...IE does, Netscape doesn't. <img src=/S/hmmn.gif border=0 alt=hmmn width=15 height=15> do you think there's a method to that?

    Re: Access XP

As with most upgrades, if there is a feature you want then it is compelling. A2002 does have an A2000 compatibility option, so upgrading isn't so painful. For those of us still on Access97, the compelling reason will be that Microsoft will discontinue supporting A97 in 2003.
