Adjust Org Chart Lines, Boxes and Spacing (2000)

We would like to know how to extend connector lines on our org chart in order to create more space between boxes. We would also like to be able to adjust the size of boxes without having to "fudge" in increasing the font size. Are we missing something, or is MS Org Chart really just that basic?

    Thanks!

MS Org Chart is a rather basic program. it has a measure of intelligence to respond to changes on the chart. Adding text will increase box sizes across the level etc. I cannot recall options to increase the space between boxed either. It is pretty much "What You See IS What You Get".

You may want to consider using MS Visio or some other Org Chart creator to give you more control over the chart layout!

    Cheers

Turn off AutoLayout in the Layout pulldown menu on the Organization Chart toolbar. you will have much more control over the layout of the org chart - you'll be able to move and resize the boxes.

You are obviously not refering to MS Org Chart Ver.2.00 that is used by Office 2000. Insert | Object | MS Org?!?

    Thanks for your response.

That's what I figured. In order to achieve the spacing we wanted between columns of subordinates, we had to change the color of lines and boxes to white so that they were invisible, then create another visible column of subordinates. Next time we will probably just use text boxes! (or Visio, as you mentioned)

Oops - must have been introduced in Office XP then. Sorry!
