Access Query with Word Merge (2002)

    Hi,

I'm not sure if this should be posted here or in Access. I have a doc that is a mail merge witha mailing list database in Access. This works fine. I have created a query in Access that filters the records based on the user's selections. This works fine. My problem is that when I go to update the recipient list I am unable to find the query, only the tables. I remember being able to find the queries a VERY long time ago in 97 or 2000 but have not done it in awhile.

    Thanks,
    Leesha

    Try the following:
    - In Word, select Tools | Options...
    - Activate the General tab.
    - Tick the check box "Confirm conversion at Open".
    - Click OK.

Now go back to step 3 in the Mail Merge Wizard (task pane).
    - Click Browse...
    - Select the database and click Open.
    - You'll get a dialog asking how you want to connect to the database, with 3 or more options:
    - OLE DB Database Files
    - MS Access Databases via DDE
    - MS Access Database via ODBC

If you select OLE DB Database Files, you should see all tables and those queries that OLE DB can handle, in one list.
If you select the DDE option, you'll get a dialog with a Tables tab and a Queries tab.
If you select the ODBC option, you'll see only tables in the list. Click Options and tick the Views check box to see queries too.

    Hi Leesha,

You might want to the UNcheck the "Confirm conversion at Open" option afterwards ...

    Cheers
