Preventing Annoying Message on delete (XP SP2)

Is there any way to get Windows to quit telling me that deleting a shortcut doesn't get rid of the program? If I shift drag a file to the recycle bin Windows lets it go in without a murmur, but however I try to delete a shortcut I get the same annoying message.

    Thanks,

    Chris (Hunt)

And the message telling you that you won't be able to run the 'foobar.exe' if you delete the exe file, and the extra confirmation to delete system files, and the extra confimation if you actually want Explorer to display the files on you hard drive, etc. etc.

I'm afraid I don't know any way to stop these. They seem to be hard-coded into the GUI. You could try http://www.annoyances.org, or a replacement file manager, that does more than simply hand of a "delete" request to the gui.

Every version of windows it seems adds more and more of these "user-friendly innovations."

Somedays it annoys me that there is some Windows OS Architect pulling down a 6-figure income + stock options, jsut to erect barrier after barrier to me getting my daily work done.
