Gradient fill for form background? (Access 2000)

    Hi,
Is it possible to fill the background of access 2000 forms with a gradient fill? I created an autoshape in word and filled it with a gradient fill. Then copied it onto the form and sent it to the back. The problem is that when I enlarge the autoshape to fill the background and change its size mode property to zoom, the gradient fill is distorted!!!

Is there any other method to have a clean fill on a form background??

    Tx
    Regards,
    Rudi

You can set the Picture property of a form, but I prefer not to use a background picture at all. Keep it plain and simple !

(Edited by Rudi on 28-Oct-05 08:48. Sorry. I only notice now there is a picture size property too...I set it to stretch!)
Ok...tx. This works for pictures. Are you saying I must save an autoshape as a jpeg file or something. And then set it as the picture property.

I did this with a sample picture and it adds it to the background, but only to the size that the picture is...it does not stretch it to fill the forms background??

    Any ideas

Yes it is possible, but it doesn't solve your original problem - the gradient will still be distorted. I've known Access really struggle to display images properly in their original sizes, let alone cope with resizing them. When it comes down to it, Access isn't all that good at processing images - which I suppose is fair enough, because that's not what it's meant for. The only real options are...

Have an annoyingly big, high resolution image for your backgrounds ( )

Life with the distortion ( )

Use a tiled background image instead

Have a middle-sized image for your backgrounds and resize your forms to fit the image

Go for a plain background as suggested[/list]... in a word, limited.
    Waggers
If at first you do succeed, you've probably missed something.

Why do you want to do this, Rudi? I know that in our .Net applications the 2005 style uses gradient backgrounds and we have to suppress it because it displays differently in every resolution, video card, theme and color scheme. I don't like the looks of it and the colors vary wildly between machines.

    Hi Charlotte,

Its not me...(I personally agree with Hans's "keep it simple and clean" philosophy! I detest coloured backgrounds and the like...).
I got a support call from a client who wanted to add a specific gradient fill on the back of his forms...and since I never do this myself, I got side-swiped by his request!

    See ya!
    Regards,
    Rudi
