If I right click on the task bar and go to properties and then click "ok", "apply" (anything but "cancel" or the "X" to close the window) it hangs for a very very long time. Even when nothing is changed. The hang time can be over 5 minutes.
Any ideas?

It is saving ALL of your Task Bar and Start Menu settings, whether they were changed or not.
If you have customized the Quick Start with a LOT of programs and/or have a LOT items running in the Sys tray area, then it may take some time to save these settings. Also if you are running low on disk space on the drive that Windows is installed it may be swapping of items.
Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
