    Outlook opens automatically (2003)

    I am running Outlook 2003 (and the rest of Office 2003) on Windows XP. Outlook starts automatically when I login. I don't want it to.

    I have checked the Startup folders for each user profile and AllUsers, but there is no shortcut to Outlook. There is, however, a file called Desktop.ini, which contains the instructions:

    [.ShellClassInfo]
    LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%system32shell32 .dll,-21787

    Is this what is causing the problem?

    Welcome to Woody's Lounge!

    No, the Desktop.ini only tells Windows how to display a folder.

    You can download and install the free utility Autoruns from SysIUnternals. It'll give you a comprehensive overview of the programs and processes that are started automatically on your PC. Each entry has a check box, clear it if you want to disable the entry starting automatically.
