    SD memory Cards

    What is the difference between an SD Memory Card and an SD MultiMedia Card? Jusy acquired a new Panasonic camera and will have a few questions. Thanx mucho in advance.

    Google brings up this definition - so it looks like 0.7mm.

    SD = Secure Digital
    MMC = Multimedia card

    I think they invented SD to fix certain problems with the MMC design. Someone once told me that if you eject an MMC before it is finished writing, the card is ruined. Don't know whether or not that is true. In any event, modern SD cards are capable of much faster read/write than MMC. This may affect the frame rate of the movies you are able to take with your camera.
