If you haven't customized your menus, the easiest way is:
    - Select Tools | Customize...
    - Activate the Toolbars tab.
    - Select Menu Bar.
    - Click Reset... and confirm when prompted.
    - Click Close.

If you have customizations you don't want to lose, try this instead:
    - Select Tools | Customize...
    - Activate the Commands tab.
    - Select View in the list of Categories on the left.
    - Select News in the list of Commands on the right (you'll have to scroll down the list to find it).
    - Drag News to the postion where you want it (menus will expand when you hover the mouse pointer over them)
    - Click Close.

I tried that and it worked. After I went to my newsgroup, I went to the menu where I put it and it wasn't there. I reset the menu, following your directions, and went to customize it but there was no news item which I could drag. Thanks for your help.

    Hans,

Last week, I wrote that what you suggested worked once but didn't work after that. It is the weekend and I thought of going to the microsoft web site and sure enough, it had the answer. It told me to go into Tools/Internet Options/Programs and put in Outlook Express for the News. I did that and it worked. When the Program opened it asked me if I wanted to make Outlook my default reader. I clicked "Yes". To check this, I closed the news groups and checked the "GO" menu and it was there. I went back to IE and The program for newsgroups was blank. After fixing that, I went to the 'GO' menu and the item was there. When I opened the reader at the question about my default reader, I clicked "NO" and unchecked the line for checking for Outlook being the default That worked. The question is: Why is that question there? Did Microsoft intend for Outlook to have its own newsgroup reader and forgot to include it?

    You'd have to ask Microsoft <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
