    X axis label won't display properly (2003)

I am trying to help a customer with an oddity in an Excel chart. She has a line chart in which the X axis values are 1,1,1,2,2,2,bypass. Yes, that's right, six one-digit characters per column, then a text entry of "bypass". On the chart the labels display as 1 1 1 2 2 2 b. If I change the angle upward or downward 45 degress, the whole word, "bypass" displays". Also, if I set the label alignment to -1, I can get the whole word. If I set the last field before the word bypass to 222222, I can get the whole word. Can anyone tell us how to get it to display the whole word at a 0-degree angle without changing the label alignment?

    Thanks in advance,

    Can you attach an example?

Sorry about the delay. I had to get the user's permission to make sure the data was okay for public consumption.

Play around with the order of the series. See attached version.

Wow - what the heck? My original and your modified look exactly the same on the data sheet, but your charts display correctly. How did you do that? Am I understanding that all you did was re-order of the rows of data, then bring them back to their original state?

I created Chart1 from scratch, and it displayed the axis labels correctly. I then tried to find the difference between the original chart and the new one, and the series order was the only significant difference I could find. I moved some series up and down in the chart, not in the data. This is done by double clicking a series, then activating the Series Order tab.

Heh, I've tried replicating what you did, and have been unsuccessful. I sent the worksheet you did to the customer, though, so she could take a look at what you did and maybe see what I appear to be missing. Thank you for your help!
