    Format multiple pictures at once

    Is there a way to apply a specific format to numerous pictures (i.e. picture size and position on the slide) without having to open the "format picture" menu and change the settings for each slide and picture? Using Powerpoint 2000.

    Record a macro.
    Select one of your pictures and size and position it with the macro recorder running. You can even attach the macro to a button on the toolbar.
    Now you can jump from slide to slide, and run the macro to reposition and resize your pictures.

    <img src=/S/thinks.gif border=0 alt=thinks width=15 height=15>
    Alternately - if it is the SAME graphic on each slide - why not put it on the master.

    <img src=/S/thinks.gif border=0 alt=thinks width=15 height=15>

    Alternately if the same graphic is going to be used on several slides - copy and paste the graphic after sizing and positioning it. The size and position info will be copied along with the graphic.
    <img src=/S/thinks.gif border=0 alt=thinks width=15 height=15>
    Perhaps some VBA wizard can come up with another solution.

    It depends somewhat on exactly on what you want to do.

    The following will work if the pictures are on the same slide and will work for MOST formatting properties but NOT all.

    Select the pictures to be formatted. You can either click on the first and then, with the shift key held down, click the rest; or you can just circumscribe a rectangle with the mouse around the pictures to be selected.

    Then right click a picture and choose Format Picture. Choose the tab with the property and then set the property value. For example, you can add fill around all the pictures, change their contrast, and set most other values. The new values will apply to all selected pictures. One that does not work well is the position property (altho it works in theory).

    Good point - I just assumed <img src=/S/blush.gif border=0 alt=blush width=15 height=15> that the pics were on different slides.

    Catherine,

    Usually a good assumption that the pictures would be on multiple slides.

    A way that would work across slides is to:
    - format the first picture as you want it;
    - double click the Format Painter
    - navigate to the other slides with pictures to be formatted as the first one was
    - click each picture to be formatted
    - hit escape when done to cancel the Format Painter

    I should have thought about it before. Some people don't like the Format Painter.
