Select the final paragraph mark and set its font size to 1 point.

One thing that really doesn't address your point but is a work around- Go to print preview, there is a button called "Shrink to Fit". This shrinks the doc by 1 page. It does not change margins- only font sizes.

    Here it is: <img src=/S/hailpraise.gif border=0 alt=hailpraise width=27 height=22> (from the lounge smilies)

    Cheers
PS: The other thing that helps with eliminating a page break after a table is to reduce the trailing para's before/after leading to 0.

I tend to use some of the suggestions already made instead of the one below. However, one more thing to try:
    - format that last para mark as hidden text (from Format Font) and
    - make sure under Tools | Options on the Print tab that the checkbox for "Include...Hidden Text" is NOT checked, which seems to be the default in Word 2003.

When I tested this by using Print Preview, I got only 1 page to preview even though the last paragraph (some text and the para mark all hidden) went onto page 2. I assume it would print the same. The advantage of this approach is that by keeping the last para mark at normal size, you know it's there if ever useful. I've done things with that last para mark, like put a bookmark around it.

The option for printing hidden text is a user-level setting, as far as I know, so if you send the document to someone else, you can't rely on the setting being the same. Font size is not user-dependent.

Hey thanks for the smilie, Macropod. I need to read up on using them. Anyway, re. leading, do you mean spacing before the paragraph? Just curious.

Yes, macropod means the spacing before and after a paragraph. If you set the font size to 1 point, but the paragraph has spacing > 0, the paragraph might still be pushed to the next page, so you should also make sure that the spacing is set to 0. "Leading" is an old printer's term from the time books were set in lead.

    Hans,

Totally agree. It wasn't clear to me from the original post that was an issue. But, setting the point size to 1 certainly does work and I use it myself.
