Linking to Anchors in an HTML page (Visio2002)

    Hi,

How do I make a link to an Anchor in an HTML page.
I tried Insert-->Hyperlinks and then in the Address Field MyFileName.html#MyAnchorName
That opens up the document but doesn't go to the Anchor.

    Any ideas?

Visio 2002, XP, Netscape 7.2 Browser

    Thanks,
    Scott

Is this problem happening because you are saving the Visio file out as HTML? If I create a hyperlink with a subaddress in Visio 2003 then view the Visio file in full screen then the link takes me to the correct bookmarked area. If I save the Visio file out to HTML then it only goes to the top of the linked page. If I look at the html that gets created I can see that instead of linking to the bookmark the link is pointing to _top.

This is obviously not what you would want to happen and appears to be a bug in the export filter. Perhaps the solution is to edit the html links after you have saved the Visio file out.

Nope this is a regulare Visio file, I have NOT exported it.

Did Visio 2002 have a problem with this?

I have never tried it before and have Visio 2003 nowdays so I can't verify if Visio 2002 does the job.

In Visio 2003 the Hyperlinks dialog allows you to browse and insert both an Address and a Sub-address so you don't need to enter the bookmark with the #whatever in the address field. Do you get the subaddress field in Visio 2002?

Yes, it has a subaddress field. However, if I enter an HTML file in the Address field and then click Browse on the Sub-Address Viso tells me "You can only browse named locations in Visio files".

If I manually enter the Anchor name here with or without the # it will only browse to the top of the file and not to the Anchor location.

    Thanks,
    Scott
