    Wheel mouse (Office 2003)

When I try to open files within any Office 2003 application, the double-click, which I've programmed into the wheel of my mouse, acts like a single-click. This happens with any wheel mouse (several Logitech and Microsoft models), on any computer I can get my hands on; but ONLY in Office 2003. And ONLY when I'm trying to open a file. Everywhere else, clicking the wheel generates a double-click, just like it should. (The double-click works WITHIN Office applications, AND opens files in normally in any other version of Office.)

Is there any way to fix this?

The problem is mentioned several times in the newsgroups, without a solution. Apparently Office 2003 ignores the mouse wheel settings in the Open dialog. I think you'll have to live with it until Microsoft releases an update (if they do).

I feared as much...though I'd hoped that by now somebody had found a way to clean up Bill's mess (since he apparently can't be bothered).

    Thanks just the same!
