    Extra Emails (MSO 2003)

Is there any way to add more than 3 emails to a contact?

    Regards,

No, a ContactItem has properties Email1, Email2 and Email3, no more.

Geez hans, you've got nothing but bad news for me tonight...

Almost makes me want to see about integrating some other address management system into Outlook.

Am I the only person with this problem? Have you heard of or do you know of any (reasonable) solutions?

Maybe integrating an Access or VB database into Outlook?

    Regards,
    Chuck

    Now see, Hans:

Here I was, trying to be a good boy and work within the Outlook boundaries like I've had (strongly) suggested to me in a couple of instances, but is it able to be workable? But (to borrow for John Beluchi of SNL) N-o-o-o-o....

    Re: Extra Emails (MSO 2003)

You could enter additional e-mail addresses in the Notes field, but they wouldn't be available in the address list when you click To... in an e-mail message. You'd have top copy and paste the address from the Notes field into the To (or Cc or Bcc) box.
You could create two contact items for the same person, that way you could store 6 e-mail addresses for that person.

You could send an e-mail to mswish@microsoft.com with Outlook in the subject, explaining why you need more than 3 e-mail addresses per contact.

    Re: Extra Emails (MSO 2003)

In other threads, people have complained that Outlook displays the contents of the Fax field when trying to look up e-mail addresses. So maybe that gives you a fourth slot for e-mail. <img src=/S/wink.gif border=0 alt=wink width=15 height=15> (I haven't tested it!)

    Jefferson:

Maybe Sperry Software's answer might work... I DO want to keep it within Outlook if possible.

I don't know about you or anyone else, but today everybody promotes the concept of multiple emails, so this is certainly one that needs addressing.

An Outlook add-in, doing the job that MS just hasn't finished, might be a plausible half-step, spreading in effect the duty/responsibility around a bit may make the result of a more complete solution more attainable.

    Chuck

    Re: Extra Emails (MSO 2003)

I have no idea about add-ins, I was suggesting something built in to Outlook.

    Jefferson:

I agree, if you can *resolve* an issue with some sort of patch like you suggested, then that's fine... You could even change labels etc. so that it would appear "normal". But one field is a long way from six (and more in some cases.

I damn near live in Outlook. Finding a way to have the Contacts adapted to sufficiently supply the file/storage requirements would be great. But I don't think that that is realistic. Add-ins often times can "work wonders".

    Maybe this time.

I guess I'm a little surprised that nobody at MS has a need for more than three emails, and has said something to someone with influence.

    Ah me.

    Regards,
    Chuck
