    Row height issue! (Excel 2000)

    Hi,
The attached WB contains lots of text in the C Column. In particular, cell C5. I notice the the largest height a row can be made is 409.50 in height. This is not sufficient for the amount of text. I can decrease the text size to 9, so all the text displays. However, when the rows are readjusted to Autofit, Format | Rows | Autofit, all rows autofit well except C5 that jumps back to height: 255.

Is this natural, or is there something wrong with the cell??

    TIA
    Regards,
    Rudi

I don't think Excel is the most appropriate application for this kind of document. Excel is not a word processor. Word is better suited to handle large amounts of text in a cell.

I agree, and I can give that as advice to the customer who asked this Q. Thx!

Any ideas though as to why the row height readjusts to 255 in C5, and does not autofit like the other cells in the C column. (Even though the text is 9 so the data fits into the height 409.50!!)

AutoFit doesn't work very well in general. I guess the 255 point limit for AutoFit is a leftover from an older version.

It works well on unwrapped cells. Its the wrap option that throws it out sometimes! (as I've seen in the past)
    Tx for your responses!

Yes, it might have been better to say that Excel doesn't handle wrapped text very well.
