    Automation error (Error 440) (Excel 2003 SP1)

    Hi all,

I keep getting a "Automation error (Error 440)" msg. at shutdown of Excel. It always stops at the line: Private m_vv_Lnk2Publications As New VariantVector - a declaration in a class module. I use 100% likewise statements in 3 other places in the code with no problems what so ever - and before 14 days ago this problem was not present in unchanged code. I simply don't get it!

<post:=508,142>post 508,142</post:> told me to have a look at the error log - seems that mso.dll is involved but I'm not sure - any ideas is highly appreciated!

    Regards
    Michael.

Why is this code executed when you quit Excel?

Have a look whether any references in the project are reported as missing.

Hi Jan - all ref's seems to be OK - nothing are missing - checks in all the boxes. <post:=252,888>post 252,888</post:> suggested to wipe temp-dirs in documents and settings and windows - set and done but did'nt fix anything :-(

Re: Automation error (Error 440) (Excel 2003 SP1)

Note - now I know that it is *after* calling into some initialization code in the beginning that is seems to raise the error at XL-close. I'm working line by line now ... must be something it don't like to begin with ?!? ... The funny thing is that I know for sure that this vector is _not_ in the game at all in my init-calls in this part of my solution (big woorkbook > 5.6mb) - so I suppose I'm dealing with some obscure side-effect...?

    Fixed!

I called Clear() on a listbox with no entries in in the beginning and this caused the error - strange, strange, strange... now all is back to normal - it seems... but gosh :-| ... beats me!

Thanx' again to all the experts - you are great - great site!

    Regards,
    Michael.
