    Conditional formatting (2003)

I'm writing a template. I'm using an excel add In. When the cacluation returns with 0 or 0% I use conditional formatting so it doesn't show. In this case it is easier then using an IF formula.
However, it sometimes returns *KEY_ERR and what ever I try with conditional formatting it doesn't work.
    I use
    If formula - =$A13="*KEY_ERR"
I tried with quotes, without quotes but it won't go away.
I know it doesn't matter, but other users might get confused by this message.
    Any help is appreciated
    Thanks

I have never seen a *KEY_ERR result - do you have non-standard add-ins in Excel?

If it is a genuine error result, you could use

    =IF(ISERROR(A13))

but if it isn't, that won't work.

Can you reproduce the *KEY_ERROR result? If so, you could try the following:
    - Select a cell that displays *KEY_ERROR.
    - Copy it to the clipboard.
    - Select Edit | Paste Special..., click Values, then click OK.
The formula will have been replaced by its result. You can now inspect this result in the formula bar. Is it just the text *KEY_ERROR, or are there perhaps trailing spaces, or ...?
