Desktop in Windows XP (Windows XP Media Edition SP2)

I just got a new HP desktop with Windows XP media edition, SP 2. As seeems to be the norm these days, there's no CD and no manual--all the help is supposed to be online. There are two desktop features from Windows 2000 that I can't fine. One is the launch bar; what happened to it? I don't mean the start up bar, but the launch bar on the left. Second, what happened to the icon on the launch bar took you back to the desktop no matter what else was running--I don't know the name of the icon.

To get the Quick Launch toolbar, right click on the toolbar and select "Toolbars > Quick Launch"

For the Show Desktop icon see the thread beginning with <post:=322,888>post 322,888</post:>

Thanks, Tony. I think you just broke the record for giving a speedy answer to my problem--no mean feat on this board.

Don't forget that the keyboard combination WindowsKey-D (WinKey-D) does the same thing as Show Desktop and also acts as a toggle to re-open the same windows that it minimizes.
