It appears that Hotmail and MSN has "Blocked" Comcast email accounts. So if you are not receiving your email form your Comcast Friends you now know why.

    Re: Comcast being blocked

It is NOT my account, but those (Hotmail and MSN) accounts I want to send to using a Comcast account. The whole neighborhood is having this problem.

The following is what Comcast has said about the problem, by the way of the "Chat Help". Time stamp is in the Central time zone.

    Harry > LAST UPDATE: 11/29/2005 4:41 PM
SITUATION: Emails sent from Comcast.net subscribers to MSN or Hotmail.com email accounts will be denied and the subscriber will receive the error "550 permit denied". This is caused by a problem on Microsoft

    Re: Comcast being blocked

I was thinking that 550 errors usually have more explanatory text than "permit denied" and that it might be "viral spam." Anyway, I wouldn't send anything to msn or hotmail as the server appears to be compromised the messages could be harvested by the attackers.

I have a throw away hotmail account and the message I receive when I tried logging in was this - "Directory Listing Denied
This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed." My sis has an MSN account so this is probably why I haven't heard from her!

    Thanks for the info!

    Re: Comcast being blocked

Just encountered another announcement from Google's Gmail

    502 Server Error
The server encountered a temporary error and could not complete your request.

Please try again in 30 seconds.

I wonder if they are also having problems? I've tried a few times and received the same notice. (yep, I emptied the cache just to be sure it wasn't an old page loading.) Is anyone else having problems reaching their mail?

Thanks Hans - I just went back again to check my access to them and it went through. Guess I am just getting a little bit paranoid! <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    Re: Comcast being blocked

This has just been posted at Comcast http://www.comcast.net/help/faq/index.jsp?...61&CM.src=cover, Comcast may NOT be alone on this.

    <hr>Why can't I send email to hotmail.com or msn.com?
At this time, MSN and Hotmail are experiencing problems receiving email from some domains, including Comcast.net. If you are unable to send email to an msn.com or hotmail.com address, please try sending the message again at a later time. Microsoft is aware of this issue and is working to resolve the problem as soon as possible.<hr>
